New Cooperation Opportunities Between the Capital Markets of Uzbekistan and Hong Kong Discussed

A meeting was held at the Republican Stock Exchange “Toshkent” with the official delegation of Hong Kong headed by Christopher Hui, Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury.

During the negotiations, the parties discussed the prospects for participation of Hong Kong financial institutions in the development of Uzbekistan’s capital market, opportunities for integration between the infrastructures of the two stock exchange, as well as new areas of international cooperation.

The parties paid special attention to the following priority areas:

  • supporting Uzbek companies in entering international IPO and dual listing processes through the Hong Kong Stock Exchange;
  • development of the bond market, ETFs, tokenized assets, and derivative financial instruments;
  • opportunities for placing Hong Kong financial instruments in Uzbekistan;
  • strengthening investor confidence and increasing market liquidity;
  • technological integration of exchange infrastructures.

As noted during the meeting, the development of financial instruments that meet investors’ needs and market demands is a key factor in building a modern capital market.

The Hong Kong side expressed its readiness to support Uzbek issuers in accessing international capital markets. In addition, a number of initiatives aimed at the gradual development of practical cooperation between the two exchanges were discussed.

This meeting became another important step toward expanding the international integration of Uzbekistan’s capital market, increasing its investment attractiveness, and strengthening cooperation within the global financial system
