George Paresishvili

Chief Executive Officer

George Paresishvili is a seasoned professional with over 27 years of experience in Emerging & Frontier Markets, Wall Street and the City of London. During his carrier, he worked in areas such as stock exchange, securities clearing, settlement and custody, brokerage, fixed income and equities sales and trading, debt and equity capital markets, treasury (FX and money markets), corporate & investment banking, wealth & asset management, investment advisory, private banking.

In 2021-2022 George Paresishvili conducted several USAID-funded consulting projects on the development of local capital markets in Central Asia, acting in a capacity of an independent international consultant and a capital market infrastructure expert. His assignments included analysis of the legal framework and the state of the local capital market infrastructure in Turkmenistan and Tajikistan, writing recommendations on creating a roadmap for the development of local securities market, drafting regulations on provision of brokerage services and on issuance of local corporate bonds. George also conducted intensive trainings for local stakeholders, including the regulator of the securities market in Turkmenistan, other government agencies as well as local brokers and issuers.

George has been serving as the CEO of the Tashkent Stock Exchange since September 2022. Prior to that he was the CEO of the Georgian Stock Exchange and the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Georgian Central Securities Depository. He joined Georgian Stock Exchange in November 2014 from Terabank where he served as a Chief Commercial Officer and a Board Member in charge of corporate and retail banking. Before that, George founded EastWest Family Office together with his Swiss partners, serving high net worth individuals in the Caucasus and Central Asia region. Until September 2012, he served as a Deputy CEO and the Board Member of Liberty Bank, being in charge of Wealth & Asset Management, overseeing Private Banking and Liberty Securities (Liberty Bank’s securities broker-dealer subsidiary). George joined Liberty Bank in February 2011 from Bank Republic, Société Générale Group, where he served as a Wealth Management Director and a Board Member. Prior to joining Bank Republic, George served as a Managing Director and Global Head of Sales at Galt and Taggart Securities, Bank of Georgia’s broker-dealer & investment banking subsidiary. Prior to this appointment he served as the Head of Wealth & Asset Management of Bank of Georgia, overseeing, inter alia, brokerage, sales and trading and DCM/ECM activities of Galt and Taggart Securities. At the same time George managed Aldagi‐BCI Pension Fund, the largest private pension fund in Georgia. George joined Bank of Georgia from Credit Suisse First Boston, where he worked in Emerging Markets Trading in London and Mortgage Trade Finance in New York.

George holds MBA degree from the University of Michigan Ross Business School and BS in Economics with Distinction from the Tbilisi State University.

Zafar Samatov

First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board

Zafar Samatov is a specialist with more than 17 years of experience in the banking and financial sector. Throughout his career, he has worked in areas such as banking risk management, bank asset and liability management, internal control, economic analysis and strategic planning, corporate governance, money markets, foreign exchange markets, and securities markets.

He has been familiar with securities market of Uzbekistan since 2007 and has accumulated experience in areas such as organizing securities trading, clearing and settlement activities, issuance and placement of securities (stocks, corporate bonds, deposit certificates), acting as a payment agent, organizing and supporting corporate governance in a bank, investment intermediary activities, primary dealer and market-maker activities in the government securities market.

Currently, he holds the position of First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of the Republican Stock Exchange «Toshkent» since June 2024. Before joining the stock exchange, he held the position of Head of Banking Risk Management at ASIA ALLIANCE BANK, where he was involved in determining and implementing the bank's policy, monitoring the implementation of risk appetite and limits, and making key decisions for the bank, including strategic planning, capital planning, and bank liquidity. Previously, Zafar Samatov worked in the Treasury Department of ASIA ALLIANCE BANK in positions such as Deputy Head of the Department (2020–2023), Head of the Securities Department (2017-2020), and Head of the Economic Analysis and Strategic Planning Department (2015-2017). He also worked in the Internal Audit Department (2015) of the Xalq Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan, where he conducted internal audits and supported inspections of the bank's structures. From 2007 to 2015, he worked in the structures of the Association of Banks of Uzbekistan, related to bank operations in the securities market, such as the Interbank Trading System and Invest Trust. Zafar Samatov began his career at the Interbank Trading System in January 2007 as an Expert in the Securities Expertise Department, where he was responsible for the admission procedures and maintenance of securities in the trading system, conducting examinations, and analyzing issuers. He later held managerial positions in this organization, including Deputy General Director and Director of the Trading Organization Department, as well as Director of the Internal Control Department, where he ensured the legality of the company's activities and organized the work of the departments.

Zafar Samatov received his higher education at the Tashkent Finance Institution in the Credit and Economics Faculty, specializing in Banking. He holds the necessary licenses and certificates as a specialist in the securities market, corporate governance, and other financial markets.
